meaning of progressive

To be a progressive Muslim, it would seem, simply means to believe in a progressive interpretation of Islam, as opposed to a digressive one or one unbeneficial to humanity. progress is at the heart of Islam and indeed all religions in their "correct"or original interpretations. It is only a corrupt interpretation that is against humanity's progress. Furthermore, if you or I had the honor of asking Muhammad or Jesus or Moses or even Buddha (peace be upon them all) whether they were "progressive" God would probably respond by sending down surat al-Ásr and surat al-Qadr.

Progress is unstoppable because it is the will of God, and like the day shining in glory it will annihilate the darkness of night. Progress is enlightenment, evolution of the human collective spirit.

well-said. But I imagine the nitty gritty details of the interpretation is the problem. Being progressive means to me that Islam can be relevant to everything I experience today. That being said, I know very little about the whole religion and I look forward to learning and understanding it.
