AMAL/Human Rights Watch Iftar Promoting Darfur Awareness (2007)

Salaam all,

As the crisis in Darfur rages on, leaving over 2.5 million people displaced and over 1/2 a million estimated dead, AMAL and Human Rights Watch jointly ask you to take some time this Ramadan to remember those who continue to suffer in this conflict.

In the effort to continue to raise awareness around this issue, AMAL member Rabya Khan has graciously offered to host an iftar at her place to show a Human Rights Watch produced project, entitled "Darfur/Darfur." It is described as, "... a traveling exhibit of digitally-projected changing images that provide visual education about the richly multi-cultural region while exposing the horrors of the ongoing humanitarian crisis." Mohammed Abbaker, a member of the Darfur Association, will also be invited to join us and speak.
