Details

Join us for Brunch with John Ishvaradas Abdallah, author of "A Sufi's Ruminations on One World Under God"

Excerpt from this fictional dialogue by the sea between a John Satya Vidyarthi and a Sufi Ahimsa Guruji:

"So you are a Muslim?"

"Yes. And because I am a Muslim, I am a Zoroastrian, a Hindi, a Buddhist, a Christian, a Taoist, a Jew, a Jain, a Sikh, and so forth."

"How is that possible?"

"It is. Let me explain..."

As the Sufi explains and believes, is there a principle of life--transcending all religions--that will help us overcome the barriers of gender, race, nation, and language, and enable us to love our neighbor in our global village?

49:13 O people, we created you from the same male and female, and rendered you distinct peoples and tribes, that you may recognize one another. The best among you in the sight of GOD is the most righteous. GOD is Omniscient, Cognizant.

I am unable to make the event. I wish the best for all of you. Islam means "Peace". The world should come to understand that. Muslims have been in the US for a long time. When Kunta-Kinte came to the US in Alex Haley's auto-biography "Roots", the first words he said when he came off the boat to the US in 1492 were, "A salaam a lay kum". Let us not forget that the boxer Mohammad Ali was one of the 1st to oppose the Vietnam Conflict. Ali became a hero to the masses.
